Photos & Snapshots

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I have a layout to share with you today using some of the photos that I took when my sister and I participated in The Color Run in St. Louis back in August...

I used some of my January Studio Calico kits +Add-ons for this layout.  I also used last week's Sunday Sketch for my design inspiration (or maybe it was the week before that one?)

I edited my photos on my iPhone using the Snapster App (one of my faves!)  I wanted them to stand out so I kept my color palette muted with a few pops of neon green here and there.

I hid my journaling tag inside the graph paper glassine pocket and it reads, "The Color Run was my first 5k...I had no idea what to expect having never ran in my life, lol!  Needless to say, my sister and I had the best time!  It took us a few showers to get all of the "color" washed off, but it was So.Totally.Worth.It!"

That's me and my little sis...love that girl!

If you've never heard of the Color Run or are interested in running in one around your area, I highly recommend you that you watch this video...so.much.fun!!!!!!!!

Have a great day and TFL!

Project Life - Week 4

Happy Tuesday!

It's been super drab and rainy around here lately, but today I finally got a chance to photograph my PL spread for last week...I can't believe Week 4 is over already!

On the left side of my spread I used a lot of smaller photos for a change.  I didn't have a bunch of great photos because two out of my three kids were sick all week and then I got (another) sinus infection so I wasn't on top of it like I should've been, lol.

On the left side I chose to print some of my pics in black and white to shake things up a bit and I really like how it turned out with the overall look of the spread.

And here's the full spread for Week 4...

I used my Project Life Seafoam Core Kit (the digital version) from AC Digitals and bits and pieces of recent SC kits for this week's spread.

I added a few badge buttons and placed them strategically so they won't take up too much extra space in my completed album.  I hope I can squeeze the whole year into just two albums, but we shall see :)

Despite the kiddos being sick, we had a lot of things going on last week...I'm anxious to document the prep work and construction of our new shed we are building through my Project Life album.  It will be really cool to see how it all comes along over the next several months through my photos and journaling.

Well, Week 4 is in the books!  I'm loving this PL thing so much right now...I know I will be so glad that I decided to tackle this!

Have a great day!  TFL!

LOL

Happy Thursday, friends!  I hope your week is going smoothly.  It's been another wild and crazy week around here, but in a better way than last week was :)

Here's the final project that I created for my Color Conspiracy Guest DT spot this month...

I used paper from their Texturize line and all the adorable die cuts are from their Daily Kate line.

My oldest son, Garrison and my daughter, Avery are always hamming it up with each other...especially at the table.  They played "banana phones" for at least 30 minutes before they actually ate their bananas!

I also used some Studio Calico and Freckled Fawn wood veneers on this layout.

Well, I'm off to take the two youngest ones to the doctor...the sick bug has hit the Alvis household again...ugghhhh...

TFL!

Love You

Happy Wednesday, folks!

Is is just me or is 2013 zooming by faster than 2012?!?!  It feels like it anyway.

Here's another layout I created for my recent guest DT spot at Color Conspiracy...

I used paper from their Daily Kate line and some journaling tags and packaging from their Texturize line for this page.

I also used a few bits from Studio Calico and the beautiful "Love" card is from Hello Forever.

My youngest son loves his daddy so much!  I was so excited when I caught this photo of them during their goodnight routine.  Gotta love kisses from daddy!

I hope you have a great day and TFL!

Project Life - Week 3

Happy Tuesday!

I've got my Week 3 Project Life spread to share with you today.  Yes, I'm staying on top of my PL!  Hooray!!!  I feel that I have a really good system going and it also helps seeing all the amazing PL inspiration on Instagram.  In fact, my color scheme for this week was inspired by the amazing @colsterspl!

Well, it was quite the week.  In a nutshell (you can read more in my journaling), my hubby was out of town for work, my beloved grandmother passed away, my husband's father had a heart attack, and my youngest son cried continuously and did not sleep because he missed his daddy so much :(  Yes...it was quite the week.

On this side (the right) of my spread, I used lots of random scrap supplies (most from Studio Calico) and a few bits from their January kits.

Another reason I used a lot of pink this week was because my grandmother was buried in a beautiful pink suit of her choice.  I will never forget how beautiful and peaceful she looked in it.  She was truly one of the best.

Here's the full spread, side by side.  I really liked how it all turned out :)

On a positive note, my hubby returned home on Thursday night, his father returned home from the hospital at the end of the week, and some of my work was featured on both Color Conspiracy and Basic Grey's blogs.

I used this Silhouette cut (found in their online store) to help emphasize how happy everyone was when Jubal returned home.  It really wasn't the same without him :)  I also used it as a reminder that my grandmother is in a new home, both in our hearts and in heaven, no doubt...may she rest in peace.

I hope you're having a great week and thanks for looking!

Winter Wonderland

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I spent mine being as lazy as possible because of a sinus headache and I just needed some extra down time from everything that had happened last week.  (More on that when I post my Week 3 Project Life spread tomorrow :)

Here's a layout I created using some fun photos I took of the kids playing in the snow last month...

I used a (very) old sketch that I had lying around and was very inspired by using the colored tags as some of my background pieces.  The "Winter Wonderland" journaling card and the "BRR" badge are from www.marcypenner.com.

I used up some leftover pieces from my Studio Calico December Daily kit and a few items from their January Kits.

The snowflake wood veneers will always be one of my favorite embellishments!

I've really enjoyed using multiple (and smaller) photos on my pages lately...switching things up is always a good idea and it helps me expand my creativity.

Have a great day and as always, TFL!

Winter Wish Mini Album

Whoo Hoo!  It's Friday!  I'm so ready for the long weekend...hopefully it will be full of scrapbooking, relaxing, and loungy pants!

Here's a look at the mini album I made for my Guest DT spot at Color Conspiracy...

We had a good deal of snow fall in our neck of the woods right after Christmas.  Normally, that doesn't happen, so I was so excited that my "Winter Wish" had come true!  The kids spent about three days playing in the snow and I got a lot of great photos... it was cold, but "snow" much fun!

The patterned papers I used for this mini are from Color Conspiracy's Daily Kate line and bits from my Studio Calico December Daily kit.

I also used my Silhouette Cameo machine for all of the die cut pages.  All cuts are from their online store.

All of the washi tape that I used in this mini is from Freckled Fawn

I adore the aqua octagon transparency from Color Conspiracy...must have more...

On this right page, I made a little flip-up journaling spot behind my photo using washi tape.  I love when there are parts of my mini albums that are "interactive" :)

I hope you enjoyed looking through my mini as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Color Conspiracy's products are fabulous and I really loved working with them.  I hope you check them out!

Have a great weekend and TFL!

ColorConspiracy Guest DT

Happy Wednesday!

I was lucky enough to get asked to be the Guest Design Team member for January at Color Conspiracy by the ever-so talented and amazing Lilith.  Thank you, Lilith!  Let me just say that I'm in LOVE with their products and their entire design team is so amazing!!!  You can check out the full post on their blog here.

Here's one of the layouts I created for my guest spot...

I had an Instagram shot of what I was doing on 12.12.12 (I was running) and I used various patterned papers and journaling cards from their Texturize line and some pieces from my December kit from Studio Calico.

I made a little flip-up journaling spot right on my layout using some black and white striped wide washi tape from Freckled Fawn.

The "Note" badge, the aqua octagon transparency, and the adorable striped camera die cut are from Color Conspiracy as well.  Be sure to check out their awesome products in their online store!

I wish you a wonderful day and TFL!

Project Life - Week 2

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I have my second week of Project Life completed!  It feels so good to be on top of things right now...makes for a great start to the new year, eh?

I've been really conjuring my inner minimalist for my Project Life spreads this year.  I like the freshness and ease of the way it looks as a whole.  It also helps me save a little time and hopefully all these things will stick so I can get to Week 52!

I used my Project Life Seafoam Core Kit that I downloaded from AC Digitals, some journaling and filler cards from the Day by Day class, and some bits from my January SC Kit, Block Party, for this week's spread.

I used a template from LifeLovePaper for my photos to make them look like polaroids.  The template was from a past Studio Calico class, but I use them ALL the time :)

I want to remember to stick a photo of the week's weather in each weekly spread.  I do that by clicking down on the reset and home button on my iPhone at the same time (that works for any screenshot you want to photograph).  Being a farmer's wife, it seems that my whole life depends on the weather so I thought it would be a nice way to document it.  Especially since it changes so quickly where I live!

I also try to use up random bits and pieces of things I have lying around on my craft table...I like when I can use something up in this way.

For some reason (when I attempted this project last year) I thought I had to fill up every pocket with photos and/or journaling...this year I'm really enjoying using "filler" cards to help bring my spreads together and seem more cohesive.  Plus, they give me a chance to show off a little creative flair, ha!

And there you have Week 2.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
