make a wish

Last week's Weekly Challenge over at Studio Calico was all about getting inspired from their DT Inspiration board on Pinterest to create a layout.  Here's what I came up with...

(the pin from their board :)

My little girl turned 3 over the weekend so I was really inspired by all the colorful sprinkles on her cake! I tried hard to keep the embellishments as simple and minimal as possible because of all the action going on at the bottom of the page.  Using a bright pink background was also a new thing for me.  Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

cash in a jar

I've been wanting, thinking, sort of needing, and dreaming of getting a new camera for a while now.  I have a point and shoot Canon Powershot that is right at seven years old and my iPhone (which actually takes waaaaaaay better pictures than my actual camera!) that I use for all my photo taking needs right now.  I finally decided this past week that I'm going to get a new camera and I'm going to save up for it....like cash in a jar save up for it.  Since I'm going to make the jump to a DSLR, I feel very guilty just dropping that amount of money on something just for me.  Maybe this has something to do with the whole stay@home mom/mother of three/brother needs orthodontic work done/automatic feelings of guilt when I buy something big for myself sort of thing that I'm sure we can all relate to :)  So I grabbed a jar, dressed it up, and set it in my craft room for motivation...I even had $50 to put in it for some invitations I recently made and sold!

I really wanted to dress up a mason jar, but this was all I could find in my cabinets.

It seemed fitting to put a fake photo of a camera on the front :0)

I spray painted the lid with chalkboard paint so I could keep a running
total of the contents on the lid with some pink chalk.

I used leftover bits and pieces from my scrap table, most are from
the new Dear Lizzy collection from American Crafts.

I'm hoping I'll have quite a bit more to add by the end of this week!

Happy Saturday!

such fun

I've been super inspired lately and spending a lot of time in my craft room, which make me very happy ;)  Here's another layout I whipped up using February's kit, Daydream Believer + Add-Ons from Studio Calico...

I tucked the journaling card into the doily covered pocket.

Love using sequins on my layouts!

I've got about five projects I'm tackling right now so hopefully that means a lot of blog posts coming!  I've gotta take what I can get and run with it when it comes to inspiration, because once it's gone, I never know when it will return!

Have a great weekend! My little princess is turning 3 on Sunday!!!

after the storm...

...comes the rainbow

My heart, prayers, and thoughts go out to all those affected by last night's storms
throughout the Midwest...especially Harrisburg, IL and surrounding areas.

hello kitty craze

Here's my take on this week's Sunday Sketch over at SC...

I took the sketch and turned it upside down so the title is on the bottom.

I used some awesome chalk ink for the stamped "craze" image.  It dries super fast and is fun to blend.

All the products and papers I used for this layout are
from Studio Calico's February Kit, Daydream Believer.
I took the picture using my Instagram app on my iPhone.

Can you believe March starts tomorrow....yeeesh!  Happy Wednesday ;)

OLW February prompts

The prompts for this month's One Little Word were all about pictures!  Initially, at the beginning of the month, I thought I had this one in the bag, but it turned out I had a hard time conveying what was in my mind through the lens of my camera.  I waited, pondered, and let my ideas form in my mind for a couple of weeks...still couldn't get any great "Fresh" pics.  So I turned to Pinterest for a little help and came up with some great pictures that helped me convey my word.  I felt guilty at first, not using my own photos (except for one!), but I figured it's all about the concept and getting my point across, so I went with it ;)

Super excited for March's prompts coming soon!

you make my heart sing

As far as weekends go, this past one turned out to be very productive!  I helped Garrison with a school poster project.  He was happy I helped him, but he says it's waaaaay to crafty :)  I told him I didn't care because I really enjoyed hanging out with him all day.  He even taught me a few new computer tricks.  I had no idea he was so savvy!  I cooked, cleaned, did loads of laundry, and even made it into the craft room a few times (this rarely ever happens on the weekends ;)  Yesterday, I made this layout using my new Dear Lizzy ruffle paper!  Isn't it adorable?!  I just love this pic of me and Avery on Valentine's Day.

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend ;)
