Our Happy Place & My September Project Life Spread! *Hip Kit Club*

Hello friends!

Grab a cup of coffee or some tea and get comfy because I'm here with not one, but TWO projects to share with you today that I created using the gorgeous September 2016 Hip Kits! First up, I have a layout that I created using a super-sized photo...

I rarely ever scrap a photo larger than 3x4, but since my challenge was to "supersize it", I decided to go big or go home with a 5x7 photo of our campsite that I took this past summer. Since my photo was scenic, I decided to position it near the bottom of the layout and layer my title and lots of embellishments around it to help draw the eye down my page.

I used a combination of the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection Thickers (available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit) with one of the chipboard stickers from the same collection that are available in the September 2016 Main Kit for my title. I placed part of it on and above my large photo so it would look more cohesive with all of the other layers on my page.

I added lots of dimension and texture to my page by layering many of the Gather ephemera pieces from Crate Paper, along with some of the Simple Stories Posh Bits & Pieces that are available in the September 2016 Project Life Kit, along the side edges of my photo and up towards the top of my layout. I also added various pieces of patterned paper from the September 2016 Paper Kit so I could add more color and patterns to my page. I also placed several of the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills Wood Veneer Paper Clips in the layers of ephemera as well for even more added texture and color.

I really love how this page turned out and how well the larger photo looks with the big title and pretty embellishments from the September Kits!

Next up, I have my Project Life spread for September 2016 to share with you...

I used many items from the September 2016 Project Life Kit to complete this month's spread such as the HKC exclusive PL cards, the Dear Lizzy Saturday Wood Veneer Words, and the Simple Stories Posh Enamel Dots.

I also used some of the Simple Stories Posh Bits & Pieces from the PL Kit to accent several of the exclusive PL cards. I just love how well the colors from the PL cards coordinate with the other items and embellishments in the kit!

I now use a 9x12 album for my Project Life spreads and I document them by the month instead of weekly, so I like to keep everything as cohesive and flowing as possible. The Hip Kit Club PL kits are always so helpful in doing this because everything coordinates so well.

I added several of the Maggie Holmes Gather Gold Phrase Stickers (available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit) on top of my photos to bring out the golden color in my color scheme and to accent my journaling which I typed directly onto my photos.

Well, I hope I've given you LOTS of inspiration on how to use your September 2016 Hip Kits! Be sure and check out the HKC Facebook page and member forum for even more inspiration from our design team using the kits!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Seriously, This Happened *Shimmerz Paints*

Hello, everyone! I shared a simple layout on the Shimmerz blog yesterday that I created using a variety of Vibez and Coloringz spray inks! And I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but I'm a proud new member of their team!!!

Using spray inks are my favorite way to add color to my layouts. I started by choosing some really bright and vivid colors for my page and took the nozzle out so I could create some very simple and basic multicolored circles on the white cardstock that I chose to use for my background design. I just dipped the end of the nozzle piece into the ink bottle and created circles with it.

After the ink dried, I placed some Dear Lizzy Black Varnish stickers on top of the painted circles so they would really pop off of the page. I layered two faux photo strips of my daughter and I to the right side and added a couple of Hip Kit Club die cuts around the strips for added color and dimension.

I added my title by using a cut file cut out of black cardstock and another Hip Kit Club die cut to finish off my page. I also added a few heart-shaped Dear Lizzy Black Varnish stickers to draw the eye around my page and to my title.

Shimmerz Paints Used: Coloringz - Don't Citron Me, No Yoking, Mandarin Mai Tai, Punked Up Purple; Vibez - Cold As Ice, Razzledazzle Berry

I love how fun and colorful this layout turned out to be just by using some colorful Shimmerz ink and a simple design!

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you have a very colorful and creative day!

You Make Me Happy *Hip Kit Club*

Hi friends!

There's been a lot going on over at Hip Kit Club! For starters, we have an amazing new design team and the October 2016 Hip Kits have been revealed!!! Eek!

Anyway, the links are above so you can check them out and I also have a brand new layout to share with you that I shared on the HKC Facebook page yesterday...

I used some of my favorite items from the September 2016 Hip Kits for this page. I adore the Maggie Holmes Gather collection patterned paper, "Moments", so I decided to use the whole sheet as my background paper.

I used a photo of my daughter from over the summer and placed it next to the title, "You Make Me Happy", which happens to be one of the freebie cut files from this month. I layered lots of embellishments from Pinkfresh Studio, Crate Paper, and Simple Stories around my photo and my title.

Be sure and check out my full post on the Hip Kit Club Facebook page and grab your September 2016 Hip Kits before they're gone!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Hello 34 *Hip Kit Club*

Hello friends! I'm here today sharing my first layout that I created using the gorgeous September 2016 Hip Kits! I recently celebrated my 34th birthday so I decided to make a layout documenting the milestone.

As soon as I opened my kits I was instantly drawn to the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes "Gather" ephemera pack that's available in the September 2016 Main Kit. I love the colors and variety of the ephemera bits so I started laying out the pieces that I wanted to include on my page.

After I used one of the free September 2016 cut files as part of my background, I placed my photos about one third of the way down my page and started layering ephemera bits around them. I also placed the number 34 from the Blessed Thickers (also available in the Main Kit) next to the "Hello" ephemera piece to create my title.

I continued placing the Crate Paper ephemera pieces down my page and used several of the Simple Stories Posh Bits and Pieces from the September 2016 Project Life Kit because they coordinated so well with the Gather ephemera bits and my color scheme.

And for even more added dimension and texture, I layered a few of the Simple Stories Posh decorative brads and some of the beautiful washi tape from the same collection that's available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit onto my page as well.

Thanks so much for joining me today! The September 2016 Hip Kits are jam packed with so many lovely items that I know you'll love so be sure and get yours before they're gone. Until next time...

First Day *Freckled Fawn*

Hi everyone!

I'm sharing a layout on the Freckled Fawn blog today using their lovely September Kit, "Black and White"!

I paired the gorgeous FF "Black and White" kit with some new items from Pinkfresh Studio. I think they're a match made in heaven...sigh...

My favorite items from the September kit are the foil epoxy stickers, which I used to create embellishment clusters along with the printed wood chips, and the black and white chipboard phrases because they're the perfect size and add just the right amount of dimension to my page.

Be sure and check out my full post on how this layout came together on the FF blog...

TGIF! I hope you have a fabulous weekend :)

August 2016 Project Life And A Layout! *Hip Kit Club*

Hey crafty friends!

I shared two projects on the Hip Kit Club Facebook page yesterday that I created using the August 2016 Hip Kits. My theme or prompt for these two projects was to use black and white photos for a change. I love how they look against all of the bright and colorful pieces from the kits!

First up is my Project Life spread for the month of August...

I challenged myself to create this spread using only black and white photos. It's been a really long time since I've worked with the b&w, so it was sort of refreshing!

I used several of the exclusive Project Life cards available in the August 2016 Project Life Kit and layered embellishments from Pink Paislee, American Crafts, and My Mind's Eye on top of them to create a colorful spread.

I cropped several of the patterned papers from the August 2016 Paper Kit and placed them inside a few of the pockets to better coordinate with my color scheme. Since the papers were rather busy, I kept the embellishing on them at a minimum.

One of my favorite items from the Project Life Kit were the mirrored acrylic shapes from Pink Paislee. They added just the right touch of neutral and bling to my spread!

Next, I have a layout that I created using a black and white photo as well...

I couldn't resist using the b&w pic with all of the colorful patterned paper and embellishments from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection, available in the August 2016 Embellishment Kit.

I like how the photo stands out and how easy it was to coordinate this whole page with items from the August kits!

To create my layered background look, I simply used pieces of patterned paper that I cut into triangles for a different project and layered them across my page and under my photo.

The puffy words and the black and white Thickers from the Main Kit combined perfectly for my title and sentiments.

Be sure and "like" the Hip Kit Club Facebook page so you can get daily doses of scrappy inspiration from our designers!

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Indigo Hills Collection! *Pinkfresh Studio*

Hello everyone!

I'm so excited to be sharing two layouts that I created using the newest Pinkfresh Studio collection, Indigo Hills!

First up, I have this lovely page documenting the lake that we stayed at all summer in Indiana...

I started by choosing one of the beautiful patterned papers from the Indigo Hills collection and placing two large photos of the lake across the middle, layered slightly on top of each other. I used some circle punches to punch out some of the round images from the collection and scattered them around the ink trail on the patterned paper.

I layered a few strips of the Days of the Week washi tape that's also from the Indigo Hills collection across the painted strips at the top and bottom of the paper for added dimension. I also placed several of the gold foiled wood clips and a few of the die cuts from the collection on and around my photos as well.

I love how easily this page came together because of the lovely inked patterned paper that I used. Even though I like to add paint and splatters to my pages myself, sometimes I just don't have enough time to wait for the paint to dry and I want to get my project done so this patterned paper is perfect for that!

Next, I have another layout I created using the new collection documenting the day my son got his braces removed...

I used one of my son's Instagram photos that he posted the day he got his braces off and printed out two copies, making one a little more muted than the other. Next, I fussy-cut several triangles from one of the Indigo Hills patterned papers and layered them around my photos producing a more masculine and geometric design.

I placed one of the gold foiled wood clips next to the muted photo and layered a few of the die cuts (using one for my page title) and one of the rubber charm stickers on top of a few of the triangles for added dimension.

I added two coordinating patterned paper strips to the top and bottom of my page and journaled on one of the fussy-cut triangles to complete my page!

I can't tell you how much I ADORE this collection! Indigo Hills is perfect for any page, theme, or project and will be one of my all time faves!

Thanks so much for joining me today!
