Member Spotlight

I have some exciting news to share...I'm the SC Member Spotlight for December!  You can check out the post here.  This is a huge honor for me and I also want to say congratulations to all the new members of Studio Calico's Creative Team...way to go ladies!!!!

Here's one of the layouts I made for the Member Spotlight...

I had this photo of my hubby and my youngest son being silly and donning felt mustaches while we were eating out at a local restaurant a few weeks ago.

I used the negative from the arrow cut file to make a mask so I could ink the black arrows onto my page.  I also used SC's November Kit, Sock Hop +Add-ons, for this layout.

How cute are these rhinestone mustaches?!?!  I got them via "happy mail" from a fabulous friend of mine on the East coast!  Thanks, Jen!!!

These guys are like two peas in a pod...I just can't believe they posed for this pic!

I hope you have a wonderful day and a great weekend!  The Christmas countdown is on!  I'll have some more of my December Daily up for you on Monday :)  Until then!

December Daily (Day 6 - 10)

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  It's 12.12.12 and I plan on doing another Daily Dozen (12 on 12) to record this awesome numerical occurrence :)  Hopefully, I'll have all my pics posted on here tomorrow!

I have another DD post for you today...

I was still feeling pretty sick during Day 6 & 7 so I didn't have a lot of great photos to document.  I did manage to bake a few batches of cookies for a cookie exchange I missed due to being sick and my little girl and I spent most of our weekend snuggled up on the couch.

So far, these are the only days of my DD that share a page spread.

On Day 8 I started feeling a little bit better so I addressed my Christmas cards and put them in the mail...

On Day 9 we decorated our tree...it had come via FedEx on Thursday so I was anxious to get it into some water.

Jubal brought his gingerbread house home on Day 10...I can't believe it survived the bus ride!

I placed the badge on top of the transparency like I did for my title page.  The die cut trees and wood veneer snowflakes are attached to the "JOY" page.

So how is your DD coming along?  I hope you have a great day!

Thanks for looking :)

Hello Holiday Sparkle

Have you seen the new Wood Chips from Freckled Fawn?  They're AhhMAZING!!!!
And here's a layout I made using them...

My daughter has the cutest little bottle brush tree that we put up in her room for the holidays.  I love it because it's so girly and blingy and cute...very, very cute :)  Pulling out the holiday decorations really puts me in the spirit!

I used some neon pink Hero Arts ink and some Mister Huey's Audrey to color a few of the Wood Chips.  I left a couple of the others natural just to mix it up a bit.

I used bits and pieces from my November SC Kit +Add-Ons for this layout.  I also used a lot of FF goodies and that adorable "Merry" badge is from Kelly Purkey's December Daily Kit.

Be sure to check out the other design team member's creations using Freckled Fawn's new line of Wood Chips here.  Have a wonderful day and TFL!

December Daily (Day 1 - 5)

Happy Monday!  I've been quite sick the past several days, but I'm on the mend and I thought I would share some of my December Daily pages with you today.

This is my second year doing a DD and I've forgotten how much I really treasure this special time during the year.  Yes, it's busy and somewhat stressful, but when I look through my album from last year all I can remember is the wonderful moments my family and I shared together throughout the month.

I already posted my album cover last week so let's jump right in with Day 1 - 5...

I used many different products throughout this album, but mainly I stuck with my SC December Daily Kit , the 25 Days Class Kit, Kelly Purkey's December Daily Kit and a lot of wonderful journaling cards and printables from Hello Forever.  If you have any questions or are wondering about a certain product, feel free to leave a comment and I will be happy to reply :)

For the opening (title) page I used the chipboard page that came with the SC Kit and some gold paint and glitter.  I knew I wanted to keep it simple and the "2012" badge (from Kelly Purkey) is actually attached to a transparency.

Day 1 was all about holiday decor and getting the house together.  I always order poinsettias to place around our home every year.

On Day 2, I ventured to Target for the first time in months and spent most of my afternoon browsing their beautiful holiday collections and pretty much wishing I could change everything I had already put up in my house!  Ha!

We were experiencing very warm weather that day and I decided to document that fact using a piece of snowflake vellum (from Kelly Purkey) that I placed over the shot of my dashboard temp reading.  I punched a hole out where only the outdoor temperature would be in focus, kind of like the blur button on Instagram, which was my inspiration behind the whole idea.

Day 3 was fairly ordinary.  I caught my daughter listening to one of those recordable books from Hallmark that my mother had given her last year.  She loves that book and it stays out all year :)

On Day 4, Avery and I hung the stockings up on the banister and put out a few more decorations.

Day 5 was the day I got sick.  The only thing I did that day, other than my normal "mommy duties", was try to soothe my sore throat with some peppermint hot chocolate from McDonald's.  It was yummy, but I ended up resorting to Chloraseptic instead.

I sewed a sequin pocket on my page since I added an extra journaling card on the left.

Well, that's the first five days of my DD...I'll have more pages for you on Wednesday, so until then!

TFL!!!

Freckled Fawn December Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday, friends!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend...it's December, can you believe it?!?!

It's time for another Sketch Challenge at Freckled Fawn and this one is based off of November Guest Designer Amy Martin's fabulous hybrid layout...

And here's my take on the sketch...

I knew I wanted a big, bold title just like Amy's so I used my Cameo and cut out a large title on a 12x12 piece of white card stock.  Then I took some fabulous washi tape and adhered it behind the individual words of my title.

I had just started putting up a few Christmas decorations when I snapped this photo of a tiny Santa ornament hanging on my son's tree in his room...it instantly put me in the Christmas spirit!

I have to give credit to a good friend of mine for the title...I loved it so much that I just had to use it for this layout!  Thank you, Jen!!!

If you would like to play along and get a chance to win a $5 Freckled Fawn Gift Card, just post your take on the sketch here by December 17th!  Good luck and TFL!!!

December Daily - Here We Go!

It's that time of year again...December Daily time!!!!!  I'm very excited to be embarking on this amazing project for the second year in a row.  I finished my cover about a week ago and so far that's all I have done.  I'm waiting on a few supplies to arrive in the mail before I really go to town on my album's insides.

I used gold embossing powder, Versamark Ink, and my heat gun to emboss the chevron and the "<3 december" stamped images on my cover.

I like how the cover turned out, except that the inside pages will probably be a bit bolder in color, but I'm okay with that...it doesn't always have to be matchy-matchy :)

This year I'm using supplies for my December Daily album from Studio Calico, Freckled Fawn, and Kelly Purkey.

Have a great day and TFL!!!
