I Got Tagged!!!

Happy Monday, friends!

I'm participating in the "I Got Tagged!" blog hop today.  I was tagged by the amazingly talented Patricia Roebuck for this hop and I was so excited to be picked by such a fabulous artist!  Patricia's work is full of beautiful color, artsy techniques, and her creative happiness shows in each and every one of her layouts.  Please be sure to stop by her blog and check out all of her creative goodness!

Ok, now I'll tell you a little about me...

1. What Am I working on right now?

I am working on a PL spread for the Crate Paper blog that will go up at the end of this month.  I'm working with their new Notes & Things line and it is one of my favorite collections from Crate so far.

2.  How long does it take me to create a project?

It totally depends on the type of project...sometimes I can create a layout or PL spread in a couple of hours (or less), but sometimes I can get distracted or stuck and a simple project can take me much longer.  I find that when I get in a slump during the process it's best for me to just walk away for an afternoon or a couple of days and then come back to it with a fresh point of view and perspective.  I, like Patricia, do most of my work for design teams so the editing and blogging process takes the longest.  I always say the "creating" part is the easiest ;)

3.  What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

Right now I'm using a lot of spray ink and stamping techniques on my creations.  I don't use a lot of mixed media as a whole, but when I'm feeling adventurous and I have some extra time I break out the modeling paste and watercolors.

4.  How does my writing/creating process work?

Like Patricia, I start with an assignment from a design team and then lay out all of the specific products and supplies that I need to complete the assignment on my craft table.  Then I just go from there.  When I don't have a specific assignment, I usually start with a photo or a specific product that I'm inspired by.

5.  How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

I get inspired by other scrapbookers and by scrolling through galleries and Instagram feeds.  I stay inspired by looking for patterns, color combinations, and techniques on Pinterest and in home decor magazines.  I'm also always inspired by the photos that I use on my layouts and by the amazing products that I get the honor to create with from my design teams.

6.  What is my signature style?

I feel that my signature style changes.  It changes with the different products that I use and it changes with how I feel about a particular assignment or photo that I use.  I like to try new techniques, but I do tend to stick with using lots of layers and colors on many of my creations.  Right now I'm trying to keep it a bit more simple and minimal, but sometimes that's really hard for me to stick to.

Now I get to tag three of my favorite scrapbookers!  I have way more than three and it was so hard to narrow down, but I did my best :)  All three of these ladies inspire me (and so many others) in many ways and I am so grateful that they accepted my "tag" and will be playing along.

Stephanie Buice - Stephanie and I are on the Crate Paper team together.  When I first saw her work I was blown away!  I love, love, love her style and her creations are always on trend.

Soraya Maes - Soraya and I are on the Freckled Fawn team together and I have followed her on IG for ages.  I'm constantly inspired by her use of mixed media and product.  She uses product in ways I never would've thought to use them and is crazy talented.

Loredana Bucaria - Lory and I were both on the Chic Tags team together once and I have always admired her beautiful creations.  She is also one of the sweetest girls I have ever encountered and it really shows through her amazing work.

These three scrapbooking superstars will continue the tagging on September 1st, so be sure and click on their blog links above and show them some love.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

August OHDEERME Kit Layouts

Happy Tuesday!

I created these two layouts using the August OHDEERME kit from Freckled Fawn...

My oldest son took this awesome Instax "selfie" while we were in Kansas over the summer.  I love the perspective of the photo and it really inspired my entire page.

I used wide washi tape and criss-crossed it on my layout for a graphic feel.  I layered the photo, large wood veneer, and stickers on a 4x6 journaling card.

For this next layout, I cut pieces of patterned paper at angles and placed the foam letter stickers above the pieces.

I colored the wood veneer frame in the middle of my page with black ink to coordinate with the color combo on my layout.

Make sure you check out how the rest of the FF creative team used the August kit in the gallery.

Have a great day!  TFL!

Embellished Tea Tin Teacher Gifts

Hello everyone!

I'm over on the Crate Paper blog sharing how I created these tea tin teacher gifts...perfect for back-to-school!

I found these adorable metal tins at my local craft store.  They had many different sizes and shapes available, but I chose these in particular because they had a clear plastic top.  I placed an assortment of different flavors of tea inside the tins which can be reused for storing small desktop items or more tea!

I embellished three tins, one for each of my children to give to their teachers on their first day back to school.  (To view the full post on how I created these tins, go here.)

This simple and easy teacher gift is perfect for starting the new school year off right!  Who doesn't love a nice cup of hot tea after a long day?  These tea tins could be handy for any small gift idea and are great for storing other small items.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Back-to-School Countdown Calendar

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I'm sharing this back-to-school countdown calendar on the Crate Paper blog today...

I chose some of my favorite journaling cards and embellishments from the Boys Rule collection and created this countdown to the first day of school.

I layered die cut pieces, chipboard frames and stickers, and an assortment of various alpha stickers and made a tag for each day.

I arranged the tags on an open frame that has wires to clip things to and used some of the Boys Rule printed clothespins to secure some of the cards.

I numbered the cards 1-10 and wrote a little activity on the back that we could do each day before school starts like "go on a picnic", "buy school supplies", and "go out for ice cream".

This countdown calendar is a fun way to get everyone ready for back to school.  It also provides a reason to get out and do the things on your summer bucket list that you may not have had a chance to do!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

*COGC* August Sketch Challenge

Hello!

There's a new sketch challenge up over on the Come On Get Crafty blog for August...

This month's sketch is fairly simple and straightforward, but it still leaves a lot of room for layering and embellishing.  Here's my take...

I stuck close to the sketch and scrapped some of my favorite fireworks photos from this past Fourth of July.

I misted on the background card stock and then added part of my title.  I stitched a few lines to mimic "fireworks" and layered the rest of my letter stickers and some sequins around the stitching.

All of the items I used for this layout are from the COGC shop.

To play along with the COGC sketch challenge this month and to get a chance to win a $5 Gift Card to the shop, see the full post here.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Week 26

TGIF everyone!

I'm here to share my pocket page spread for Week 26 with you today...

I used the August OHDEERME kit from Freckled Fawn for this week's spread, along with a mixture of PL kits from Studio Calico.

This was the week that we went home for a bit during our "summer in Kansas" tour, but before we left, I took the boys to get haircuts for the first time professionally at Sports Clips in Overland Park.  Don't they look handsome?

The August OHDEERME kit was perfect for my spread...the colors and embellishments were so fun and easy to add and seem to pair really well with any other manufacturer I use for my filler and base cards.  And how cute are those blue paper clips?!?!

Here's a look at the full spread...

I hope you have a great weekend!  Be sure and check out this month's ODM kit from Freckled Fawn...I'll have some more projects that I created using the kit up on the blog soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Today Is Better With You

Happy Wednesday!

I'm sharing this layout I created showcasing some Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Label Stickers on the Come On Get Crafty blog today...

I don't use label stickers very often, so I challenged myself and used them as the background behind my photo strip.

I used foam adhesive dots to pop up my layers on this page to give it some extra dimension.

I used some Maggie Holmes Flea Market Ephemera Pack bits from the COGC shop on my page to created additional layers.

Be sure and stop by the Come On Get Crafty blog to get more details about this page.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
