31 things

I'm currently taking a class over at www.bigpictureclasses.com called 31 Things taught by one of my favorite people, Ali Edwards.  This class is all about writing and going deeper with your journaling, as well as adding a few photos to back up your stories.

I've always liked writing and I swear one day I'm gonna write a book!

When I first signed up for this class I was worried I wouldn't like it because I've been really out of practice with my writing skills, but it's been amazing and I'm really enjoying it.

I thought I'd share a few pages I've completed with you.

I've been using my May SC kit, 35mm, for all of these layouts.

Here's my PL spread for Week 11...

The journaling cards are from www.marcypenner.com.

I really liked my variety of photos I had from this week and I think they helped me mix it up a bit.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.  We had several things going on and I even got a little bit of work done over the break.  We even got to swim a couple of times in my sister-in-law's pool.  We had record breaking temps all weekend so the water felt wonderful!

Happy Tuesday!  TFL!!!

off you Go.

Here's my take on this week's Sunday Sketch at Studio Calico...

Basically, I just flip flopped the page and put the photo on the left instead of the right.

I captured this photo during my Week In The Life project.  I love how he's "walking the line" on his way into school to get screened for Kindergarten.  I know he was nervous, but he tried so hard not to show it!

I used my May 35mm Kit for this layout and some leftover Cosmo Cricket Tiny Text sentiments.

Happy Thursday!  TFL!

almost 10

My oldest son, Garrison, will be the big one-oh in a couple of weeks and he has decided to go with an Angry Bird theme for his party this year.  I was going to take the easy way out and purchase some Angry Bird invitations at Party City but they were all sold out, so I told him we could make our own.  He was excited to help out and I had the perfect pattern using punches to make these cute little guys...

I made about six total and it only took us an hour or so to complete.  He even filled out all the information for the party on the inside! I kept them super simple and I think they turned out pretty good.

Garrison was pretty proud of them, too!

He's really excited for his party, which will be a small bonfire with a few family and friends, and there may even be a few water balloons involved :)

I can't believe my little guy is going to be 10...where, oh where, does the time go?

If anyone has any great Angry Bird theme ideas, feel free to leave me a comment.  I'm having sort of a brain block on this one and I want to keep it simple.  I really need to get on Pinterest and check out the amazing ideas I know are on there.  It's on my to-do list for this week :)

Happy Hump Day!

Project Life Week 10

Here's my PL spread for Week 10...

I started off full force with this week's spread, but I ended up just getting it done due to lack of time.  And that's OK.  My planning and timing has changed since the kids are out of school and I've been trying to incorporate a little exercise into each day.  I have to keep thinking of this project as a whole, not just as a single week.  I'm doing what I can with what I have :)

The adorable journaling cards are from www.marcypenner.com.  This week I took every single photo with my iPhone.

Happy Tuesday!  TFL!

gettin' messy

This month's class over at Studio Calico was all about "gettin' messy"!  The super talented Celine Navarro taught the class and I learned so many new techniques using all sorts of mixed media supplies.

Here's a peak at some of the pages in my mini album...

I haven't quite finished adding in all of my photos yet, but that's on my to-do-list for next week :)

All the supplies I used for this mini were from the Get Messy Class Kit and the extra add-on divider page kit.

I hope you had a great weekend and happy Monday!  TFL!

2 Hugs & A Root Beer

Wow, it's Friday already...I don't think time could go by any faster!  I've been getting a lot done around the house today and the kids are behaving so that means it's a good day ;)

Here's a layout I just completed using my new 35 mm kit from SC...

My favorite embellishment on this page are the sparkly "goosebumps" I used to fancy up the Heidi Swapp banner that I misted with some Mr. Huey's Taxi...too cute!

And here's a look at the journaling I tucked away in the grid patterned envelope...

Here's to the weekend, hope you have a good one!

Project Life Week 9

Another week is in the books!  This Project Life spread turned out a lot better than I thought it would, despite the fact that I spent most of the week on the couch and in bed ;)

I didn't get very fancy with this week...just got it done!

I added an 8 1/2 x 11 insert page protector for Jubal and Avery's art.

I've been wanting to use these 6x6 divided pages for a while now...
This was a good week to try 'em out!

Avery finally received a pack of stickers from her chain letter she sent a couple weeks ago.
It made her day to get her very own "mail"!

Today is the first official day of summer break for all of my kiddos...we'll see how it goes...so far, so good!

Happy Wednesday!

back on track

I'm finally getting back on track after being really sick last week.  Yesterday, I spent a little bit of time in my craft room and realized I hadn't even opened my May SC kits yet!  I felt overwhelmed going through all of the awesome goodies, so I figured the best thing to do was to start creating a page.  I hadn't participated in a Sunday Sketch in sooooo long, so I went off of this week's challenge...

I used 35mm +Add-on's for this layout.  Oh, and please don't mind the little leftover sticky-back on the right-hand side...I didn't realize that was stuck on there until after I uploaded these pics on here!  Oops!

We also got a little Mother's Day surprise yesterday.  Our mama cat had her kittens in the afternoon while we were outside grilling dinner and enjoying the beautiful weather.  We have SEVEN babies!

Ugghhhh....Jubal wants to keep them ALL!  We shall see :)  But seriously, if anybody needs a baby kitty they'll be ready in about 8 weeks...free of charge.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and happy Monday!  TFL!

Project Life Week 9

I've been super sicky these last few days and I HATE it!  I've missed a bunch of fun events the kids had at school, I haven't been able to step foot in my craft room (or anywhere other than the couch or my bed, for that matter) since Saturday, and all the chores, cleaning, laundry, etc., etc. just keep piling up around me :(

My mom has been a huge help this week with the kiddos and the kiddos themselves have been pretty good, too.  I can tell my hubby is ready for me to feel better because he keeps talking about grilling these brats he picked up at the store when he was getting me some cough drops.  I can't even think about food.

I woke up this morning (after coughing and sweating all night) and went to the doctor...something I NEVER do.  I hadn't been to the doctor in so long that they made me fill out "new patient" paperwork and all that good stuff.  Luckily, I was home within an hour and with my arms full of antibiotics and cough medicine.  Let the healing begin...because I don't know how much more of this I can take!

I did snag a couple of pics for this post, but I'm telling ya, I'm completely wiped out now...

Here's my Project Life spread for Week Nine...

The "Captured" and "Snap Happy" cut outs were made using my Silhouette.  The journaling cards are from www.marcypenner.com...too cute!  That little plastic baggie that fit oh so perfect in the 3x5 slot at the top left is from Smash.  I put all the adorable "packed by:" SC cards that are tucked into the monthly kits in it.

And here's what my momma brought me to make me feel better...aren't they beautiful?  Thanks, Mom!

I'm getting back in bed and I hope, I hope, I hope that I feel a bit better tomorrow, even if it's just a little...

Happy Wednesday and TFL!

Week In The Life - Completed!

Sorry for the little bloggy break, but I've had a ton of things going on with the kids (school's almost out!) and I've been doing a lot of custom invitation work this week.  I've also contracted a very nasty chest cold and sore throat (not to mention poison ivy on my leg and stomach!), so yesterday I didn't get to post anything for National Scrapbook Day :(

I figured I'd make up for it today by posting my completed WITL album.  It took me ALL week but I finished it!  Huzzah!

I really loved the entire process of this project and I WILL be doing it again next year!  Here's a look at my completed album (most of the pages anyway, there were a lot!)...the kids have already looked at it about a dozen times since yesterday :)

Title Page
I used the divided page protector that came with the album and put in bits of scraps leftover from the project.  I also used my Silhouette to cut out the chevrons and camera.

 Front Page
I used Ali's templates with my Photoshop Elements program for all of the digital pages.

Monday

The 9x9 divided page protectors (like for baseball cards) were perfect for adding in all of the extra photos I took for each day.  The Week In The Life Daily Sheets are from www.aliedwards.com and were free to download and print ;)

The chevron squares I used were also downloaded and cut from my Silhouette.  I really liked the "see through" effect it gave the album, along with the Hambly transparency and washi tape.  I also added some Heidi Swapp rub-ons sentiments throughout the album.  The 4x4 page protectors are from Martha Stewart's new office supply line at Staples.

The End!

I hope I didn't bore you too much with this incredibly long post :)  I'm gonna sit back and relax with some tea for the rest of the day and try to feel better because next week is going to be a busy one!  And then, it's summer break time and thinking about that just overwhelms me.  I hope you have a great Sunday and as always, TFL!!!
