Project Life Week 13

Here's my PL spread for last week...

It was a busy one...

I spent most of the week getting ready for Garrison's birthday party on Saturday.  You can check out that post here.  The weather was beautiful so we also spent a lot of time outside :)

Those fun, giant, black and white numbers came from last month's SC kit 35mm.  I also used my Phonto App for the words on the photos again this week.  The thought bubble stamps are from this month's SC kit So Cal.

I saved a whole page just for birthday party pictures which were very colorful this week!

Happy Tuesday and TFL!

through the lens - the big one-oh

We celebrated my son's birthday (he's 10 today!) over the weekend with a small gathering of his friends and family.

The theme for the party was Angry Birds...

I used a few circle punches and some cardstock to make the pig face on the chip bucket.

I found a few photos online of different ways to decorate the
cupcakes and used what I had at home to work with.

He had a great party and everyone had fun...can't believe my baby is 10...

Hope you had a great weekend!

I'm really enjoying this class, mainly because I'm writing as honestly as I can and I think this will be an amazing album to look back on in a few years.

I've been busy this week with birthday party plans, electricians, bike rides, and wedding favor/program preparations.  What have you been up too?

Happy Thursday!  TFL!!

Project Life Week 12

Wow, I can't believe it's been three months since I started Project Life!  It's amazing how many memories I've documented over the last three months that I would've otherwise forgotten about by the end of the year.  This thing has become pretty amazing if I do say so myself :)

Here's a look at my spread for (my) Week 12...

I really like the bright colors of this week's spread.  All the labels on my photos came from the Phonto app on my iPhone.

Instead of journaling a lot (not enough time for that this week!) I just did a "Top Ten" list of all the major highlights.

I found the silly bands while cleaning the basement this week so I just stuck them in a pocket.  I also found the single marshmallow and the paint swatches, too (previous pic above)...I never know what I'm going to find around here!

Happy Tuesday!  TFL!

through the lens - Sunday

I've been estranged from my DSLR recently, so I decided a fishing trip with the hubs and the kiddos would be a perfect time to get to know each other again.

Here's a few of my favorite pics from yesterday...

 Our froggy friend

 Jubal's truck

Love these colors!

The "dino egg" we found...only it was just a perfectly round
rock that the kids rolled down the hill all afternoon.

He's always digging something up.

It was pure luck that I caught this pose :)

 Sissy's "fuf-fly"

We didn't have a lot of luck fishing yesterday.

He may be holding it, but I caught it!!!  This was definitely
the biggest fish I've ever caught and then I caught another one!

Hope you had a great weekend!  Happy Monday!

hello there

Here's my take on this week's Sunday Sketch at Studio Calico...

The techniques I used to create this layout were way out of my comfort zone.  I used watercolors for the background streaks, something I've never really done before.  It was really fun and I can't wait to do it again!  I also found this really cool iPhone app called Phonto to put those cool number circles on my Instagram pics.  Just an FIY, the Phonto app is super addictive, BTW :)  I also didn't use any patterned paper on this layout.  I think that's a first, because usually, that's all I use.  And the journaling spot on the left is just the leftover background paper from some label stickers.

Creating this layout was very freeing, so to speak, because I needed to try some new things and I really just let myself go with it.  Using ink, watercolors, and stamps is messy and sometimes doesn't turn out the way you pictured it in your head, but I really liked the process and the way it turned out for this page.  It's good to let go of all the "control" sometimes.  I think it's the summertime that makes me feel that way :)

Have a great weekend and TFL!

half way in

Well, it's June 1st...the year is already HALF over...what?!?!  Wow.

I was laying awake in bed last night thinking about the new year resolutions I made back in January and I wanted to review them.  I wanted to see if I've made any progress with them.  I wanted to see which one's I've accomplished and which ones I still have six months to work on.  You can check out my January  resolution post here.

Here are my 2012 resolutions:

1.  Finish my projects from last year before starting new ones ;)
2.  Make time for more date nights with my hubby...at least once every couple of months, anyway!
3.  Travel a little more...far or near, just getting away a little more often.
4.  Use more of what I have on hand and upcycle more items from around the house...I'm sure Pinterest will be able to help me accomplish this one!
5.  Try some new recipes and cook a little more...this might be my hardest resolution :0)
6.  Learn to sew again...yes, again!
7.  Buy a new camera...I can't wait to accomplish this one!
8.  Stop being so hard on myself for not getting everything accomplished.
9.  Save more and spend less.
10.  Get more blog followers ;)

So far I've accomplished #1, #4, #6, #7, #8, #9, and #10...not too shabby :)  And I've sort of started on #3 recently.

I'm definitely going to work on the other three and I have six whole months to do it!

Did you make any resolutions back in January?  If so, how are they coming along?  It's not even too late to make some new ones half way in :)

Happy Friday!  TFL!
