brand new truck

The weekly challenge over at SC was about using tone-on-tone color for a layout.  Here's my take...

For my tone-on-tone effect, I popped a few cream dots off of my background with some Glue Dots.  I also hand-doodled on my page which I don't think I've EVER done before...that's me this year, trying all sorts of new things ;)

Happy Weekend Everyone!

photo challenge

I was having some trouble posting yesterday and amidst all the updating, cleaning out my cookies, and charging my computer I forgot to post this photo challenge that I will be participating in on Monday.  I hope you join me!

All you have to do is take 12 pictures on Monday, March 12th.  They can be of anything!  Just start clicking!  The other (optional) part of the challenge is to take a photograph in a new way, like from a different angle or height or using your self-timer, just do something new in your picture taking process :)  This challenge is to help share a glimpse of your life, whether it's a "normal ol' day" or something fantastic that is going on, you'll be glad you joined in!  Then on Tuesday, March 13th, post your pictures on a blog/facebook and then link them to Dear Lizzy and to here, then you will add a link to your photos.  It'll be fun to see what everyone has to share!  Hope you join in!

Happy Friday!

This week's flying by...I can't believe this is my 100th post!  Whoo Hoo!!

Here's my take on this week's Sunday Sketch over at Studio Calico...

I used SC's new March Kit, Story Hour +Add-On's, for this layout.
I took the sketch (see bottom) and rotated it to the right.

Enjoy!

five

I signed up for FIVE, the Self-Paced Album class from Ali Edwards last week.  It was a completely different approach to making a mini album than I'm used to and I loved it!  This class helped me "let go" of my imperfections, focus on my photos, and I learned some new techniques, too :)

If you're interested, you should definitely check out Ali's website.  She has a more minimal approach to scrapbooking and has some amazing ideas and lots of great inspiration.

Happy Wednesday!

make a wish

Last week's Weekly Challenge over at Studio Calico was all about getting inspired from their DT Inspiration board on Pinterest to create a layout.  Here's what I came up with...

(the pin from their board :)

My little girl turned 3 over the weekend so I was really inspired by all the colorful sprinkles on her cake! I tried hard to keep the embellishments as simple and minimal as possible because of all the action going on at the bottom of the page.  Using a bright pink background was also a new thing for me.  Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

cash in a jar

I've been wanting, thinking, sort of needing, and dreaming of getting a new camera for a while now.  I have a point and shoot Canon Powershot that is right at seven years old and my iPhone (which actually takes waaaaaaay better pictures than my actual camera!) that I use for all my photo taking needs right now.  I finally decided this past week that I'm going to get a new camera and I'm going to save up for it....like cash in a jar save up for it.  Since I'm going to make the jump to a DSLR, I feel very guilty just dropping that amount of money on something just for me.  Maybe this has something to do with the whole stay@home mom/mother of three/brother needs orthodontic work done/automatic feelings of guilt when I buy something big for myself sort of thing that I'm sure we can all relate to :)  So I grabbed a jar, dressed it up, and set it in my craft room for motivation...I even had $50 to put in it for some invitations I recently made and sold!

I really wanted to dress up a mason jar, but this was all I could find in my cabinets.

It seemed fitting to put a fake photo of a camera on the front :0)

I spray painted the lid with chalkboard paint so I could keep a running
total of the contents on the lid with some pink chalk.

I used leftover bits and pieces from my scrap table, most are from
the new Dear Lizzy collection from American Crafts.

I'm hoping I'll have quite a bit more to add by the end of this week!

Happy Saturday!

such fun

I've been super inspired lately and spending a lot of time in my craft room, which make me very happy ;)  Here's another layout I whipped up using February's kit, Daydream Believer + Add-Ons from Studio Calico...

I tucked the journaling card into the doily covered pocket.

Love using sequins on my layouts!

I've got about five projects I'm tackling right now so hopefully that means a lot of blog posts coming!  I've gotta take what I can get and run with it when it comes to inspiration, because once it's gone, I never know when it will return!

Have a great weekend! My little princess is turning 3 on Sunday!!!
